Women should only request this option if they are absolutely certain that they do not want to have any children in the future. Tubal ligation is usually an outpatient procedure that can also be done immediately after vaginal childbirth or caesarean section. After this procedure, you should avoid strenuous exercise for several days, but you can head back to work shortly.

PROCEDURE:

Your surgeon will make a few incisions in your belly button area. Your fallopian tubes will either be clipped or cauterized so that the egg does not have any contact with sperm. Once the procedure is complete, the beginning incisions are stitched closed. You will have a follow-up appointment to remove the stitches.
