Acne Treatment

What is Acne Treatment?

Advanced Acne Treatment is a gentle pulsed light procedure that can be performed on the face, chest, arms, legs… just about anywhere. And without down time!

Advanced Acne Treatment is non-invasive and fast. Nothing penetrates the skin, and large area is treated with each pulse. Pulsed light targets P. Acne Bacteria causing it to release singlet oxygen and destroy itself without harming normal skin. The treatment is performed twice a week for 3 weeks. Each treatment reduces the number and inflammation of active acne pores in the area until you reach your desired end result.

Who can be treated?

Advanced Acne Treatment procedures can performed on most skin types. If you have very dark pr tanned skin, however, you should consult your physician to see if this procedure is right for you.

What can I expect during the treatment?

Prior to the Advanced Acne Treatment procedure, the skin is cleaned and thin layer of Plume Barrier Lotion is applied to the treatment area. The lotion prevents any material from sticking to the light output window of the treatment hand piece. Because the light pulse is of low energy, a topical anesthetic is unnecessary. When the light flashes, it feels like a warm pulse against the skin.

Is the procedure painful?

Most patients will feel no discomfort during the procedure. The low energy light used during the treatment has a photo-chemical effect and causes no thermal damage.

What  can I expect after the treatment?

The treated area will feel warm and may appear slightly pink for a few hours. Many patients have the treatment performed at lunchtime and are able to return to work or school that afternoon.

The P. Acne bacteria will be diminished with each treatment and gradual reduction in redness and swelling will occur over the four-week treatment period.

Your physic will recommend a daily skin care regimen before you leave the office.

How long does the procedure take?

Advanced Acne Treatment usually takes about 10 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area, and normally starts with 2 treatments per week for 4 weeks. Maintenance treatments may be necessary depending on the severity and type of acne.
