Soft Tissue Fillers

At Intercounty Cosmetic Surgery, we also offer soft tissue fillers, which can help create a younger and smoother appearance. These fillers are injected underneath the skin to temporarily smooth out your wrinkles. These soft tissue fillers are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Juvéderm

Juvéderm, from the makers of BOTOX, is a hyaluronic-acid based filler that is typically used for wrinkles and lines on the lower portion of the face, including the treatment of nasolabial or melolabial folds – the “parentheses” that run from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, and provides volume and hydration to the skin. Since Juvéderm is biocompatible and biodegradable, there is no risk of allergic reaction, and the product is safely eliminated by the body over the course of 6 to 9 months.

Radiesse

Radiesse treats nasolabial folds around the mouth and marionette lines, which run from the corners of the mouth vertically down the chin. Radiesse differs from other dermal fillers in that it can stimulate the production of your body’s own natural collagen, for results that may last up to a year or more. It is composed of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. The microspheres remain after the carrier is broken down, and the body builds a network of collagen fibers around them. Even after the microspheres dissolve, the new collagen remains at the treatment site. This has led some to term Radiesse a “semi-permanent” filler.

Restylane and Perlane

Facial lines and wrinkles are caused by a gradual breakdown of the body’s collagen and the elastin fibers in the skin. No one is immune from experiencing this normal aging process. Squinting, frowning and smiling also inflict stress on the underlying collagen in the skin and accelerate the formation of these furrows. Until recently, injectable collagen was the most widely used available cosmetic filler to improve the appearance of these lines.

The Restylane family of products includes Restylane and Perlane. Both are cosmetic dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

Procedure:

These fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body. Some people may need more than one injection to achieve the smooth effect. The effect lasts for about six months or longer.
